DEPRESSIVE AGE had to escape from East Germany in 1987 to further their career. The band was previously known on their 1986 demo 'Kamikaze' as BLACKOUT. Unfortunately frontman Jan Lubitski was caught in the attempt to get to the West and would not see his band mates until his year long jail sentence had expired.

DEPRESSIVE AGE recorded a five song demo 'Beyond Illusions' in 1990 and have since followed it up with four albums. Notable touring including support to NUCLEAR ASSAULT's June 1993 European dates. Shortly before the recording of 1996's 'Electric Scum' long term guitarist Ingo Grigoleit departed for a career in the movies. The band formed part of the billing for the December 1996 ?Dark Winter Nights? touring festival alongside SENTENCED, LACRIMOSA, THE GATHERING and DREAMS OF SANITY.
