unul dintre cele mai importante interviuri realizate de mine ! multumesc tuturor celor care m-au ajutat cu traducerile pe ici, pe colo. lectura placuta !

1. Hello, Jed. How are you ?

Jed: Great thanks. Working hard in the studio here in Vancouver. Doing
the bass tracks for the Tenet album.

2. What's up with Strapping Young Lad ? How are Devin Townsend now ?

Jed: SYL is on indefinite hiatus. Which means nothing is happening. Gene, Byron, Myself and devin are all fine, thank you.

3. From what i know, your priority at this time is Tenet project. Let's talk about it. It was created in 2003 by Gene Hoglan and you. How come after four years Gene leaves the band ?

Jed: let me give you some proper Tenet history. Tenet was started in
1996 by me and Steve Wheeler, who is the Zimmers Hole drummer. It was just a death metal side project, and it wasn't until about 2000 that I
thought it should be serious. By then Steve had other commitments and
I asked Gene if he would play. SYL has been very busy, so there was
never time to record it. Last year I decided that I needed to do this
by myself, with no SYL influence. Tenet has always been my thing and I
needed to separate myself from SYL to do it the way I wanted it done.
So I told Gene that I wanted to use someone else, and being the pefect
gentleman, he understood. I love him.

4. Your new drummer is Adrian Erlandsson. I think it was a pretty fast decision considering the time Gene left the band (January 2007). How did you find Adrian? Are you friends?

Jed: I asked Adrian if he was interested and he said yes, then I told
Gene my feelings, and it happened right away. It all took place over a
couple of weeks. And yes, Adrian is a good friend of mine.

5. This year you`ll be releasing your first album, "Sovereign". Can you give me some details about the songs, track length, influences and so on ?

Jed: Tenet and the first album, 'Sovereign', is my obsession, my feelings, my everything. It is simply a window into my soul. The songs are all straight ahead metal, with lots of 'old-school' style riffing and arrangements. And there are NO keyboards. After many years with
keyboards in all my other bands, it's very important to me to get back
to what I really love. LOUD FUCKING GUITARS. Influences range from old speed metal to death metal. The songs are all fairly short, 3-5 minutes long each. And with scorching lead guitars!

6. I know that, aside from Strapping Young Lad and Tenet, you've played in several bands. Let's start from the beginning and go back to the mid 80s, when you played in Armoros. Please tell me a bit about the history of that band.

Jed: Well, that was my first 'serious' band. I learned many lessons with those guys, lessons that I still apply to things I do today. Those were the best, and worst of times. We were together for about 7 years, did 3 demos and one album, 'Pieces', which was never released. We are currently remixing that album 'Pieces' for release next year through Marquee records in Brasil. So it will finally see the light of day!!!
Visit the Armoros Myspace page for all the info...http://www.myspace.com/armoros

7. Then for a while, you played in Caustic Thought, a band that also had Byron Stroud playing bass and Devin Townsend as a producer.

Jed: Devin never produced us, he replaced me on guitar when I quit the
band in 1992.

8. From what I've read, you've helped Dev a lot with his solo project, Noisescapes, of which not much is known. Can you shed some light in this case? Did you record some material? If so, do copies of it still exist?

Jed: There was lots recorded, some of it has surfaced in Devins other
projects. That was a fun time as well, unfortunately, it wasn't meant
to be.

9. Then your main band became SYL. You are the oldest member of the band besides Devin. What do you remember about that time ? What are the differences between that period of time (1995)and now?

Jed: Between then and now, we all grew up. That's it. We evolved into
I think, one of the best live bands on the planet. Good times indeed.

10. You've been active in some other groups too, essential for your career like Zimmer's Hole and Tenet.

Jed: I am a firm believer in keeping busy. There is way too much music
in me to be confined to one band. So I have many bands to show the
many sides of my personality.

11. I saw some photos of you wearing a Pestilence t-shirt. So i guess the dutchs are one of your favourites?

Jed: THEY ARE GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. What's your opinion about Devin Townsend's latest release, "The Hummer" ?

Jed: I have not even heard it.

13. Can we talk a little more about Strapping Young Lad ?! Do you agree ?

Jed: Um, ok.

14. How is it, that in almost every song of SYL, we can find the word "Fuck"? Who writes the lyrics and the music?

Jed: Devin is behind most of the lyrics, and he is largely responsible
for the music. We all contribute, but it goes through the devin filter
first.

15. To whom is the "You Suck" song dedicated to? I think that some people could be offended by lyrics like "Even your girlfriend fucking sucks/ Hell yeah she fucking sucks" !

Jed: It's a statement. The music industry sucks. Period.

16. Can you tell me which SYL album is the best, by your oppinion?

Jed: The self titled album 'SYL'. Lots of guitar.

17. I`ve heard that on "Alien" was supposed to be a Tom Jones cover version, but from some reasons it wasn`t. Is there any posibility that your fans could listen to this cover?

Jed: No. Haha!!

18. I can see that the "SYL" album has an impressive list of guests. How did you manage to gather up so many vocalists/ singers?

Jed: They are all friends of ours, it's nice to have your friends
contribute to your albums.

19. "Love" song's videoclip it's simply amazing. Who is the genius behind this wonderful creation and what you can tell me about him ?

Jed: Joe Lynch, producer/director extrordinaire.

20. How is it possible that you didn't release any best of compilations in your career?

Jed: Because that's gay.

21 . How can you maintain the same line-up for a time now? Isn't it hard, especially that all of you are involved in other projects, too?

Jed: Not at all, we all LIKE each other!!!

22 - Have you got an offer to play in Romania, too? Do you know some Romanian fans?

Jed: Not yet, but perhaps someday soon, we will see you!!

23. If there is anything else you would like to add...

Jed: Thanks everybody for your support!! Look for the TENET album this
year, and also watch for a new Zimmers Hole album too!!
